Derek Hansen brings to the senior management team a key perspective informed by his rich background in commercial, civil and residential construction.

In his role as Vice President of Development Construction, Mr. Hansen oversees all of the Towbes Group’s construction staff and department activities and manages the building and systems implemented on all new property developments. His responsibilities also include tenant improvements for both private parties, as well as Towbes Group-managed properties. Mr. Hansen joined the Towbes Group in 2003.

Previously, he served as director of construction for Western Consolidated Construction. He also had leadership role with JM Development for project management of residential developments in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Mr. Hansen has represented the Towbes Group as a member of the Santa Barbara and Santa Maria Valley Contractors Associations and as Vice Chair of the Housing Advisory Committee to the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors. Additionally he has filled officer positions on the Home Builders Associations Executive Board culminating with being President of the Association in 2009.

Mr. Hansen attended University of Nebraska at Omaha where he received a Bachelors of Arts in International Relations, Marketing and Finance. He is a Licensed General Contractor in the state of California.
